AaronFalkenberg
Hi all, I thought I would share my own results from using Epson's V750 scanner. This is a crop from a 30x44" wall map photographed with a Symmar-S 210 at f/16 on Provia 100F. The area measrues about 3". The file is 500Kb, so if you're on a slower connection consider yourself warned. Compressing to a reasonable size has reduced the quality in all the swatches, but it is most noticeable in the last, sharpest, shot. For example, the "Etosha Pan" and dots are fully separated in the uncompressed file. On my unit, at least, the gains from nothing, to "+" are modest, but they are there. I wonder what it would be like with even more height? I haven't had a chance to try the FMA, but I might get the scan science unit instead. I'll have to do more "real life" scans before I decide. cheers, Aaron<div></div>

jtk
+/- .4mm from "perfect" (ie range of less than 1mm) is critical sharpness range with my Fisher focusing carrier (continuous focus...not shims) on my old Epson 3200. Some of the newer flatbeds MAY be handicapped by moving light source, Vs the older fixed light source.
toby1
wait. what? I don't understand your test? Sorry, I'm sure its obvious, but would you mind walking me through your + spacing legend? The last map image is pretty freaking great looking, could you explain your settings? Sorry to bug ya.
ed_oneil
Aron, What were your scan setting on this. I have a problem with both Epson scan and Silverfast 6.5 that tells me I cannot scan a 4x5 Tranny over 1200 dpi. The message is "Image format is too large. Try reducing the resolutio....." I am scanning my 4x5 set at original and I would like to scan at 6400 dp i at least . Any thoughts?
