Motorola Milestone X smart phone

Recommended Posts

Looking to up grade my cell phone and ran across this one at my local phone co. Has anyone tried this camera phone? It can not replace my D200 but for something to always have with me I am impressed with the camera part of the phone very much. Has 8mp and " IS" a must have for these small cameras since holding them still is very hard. Plus it has tons of apps. Looks like a great unit and I can take Credit Cards with it at the shows I do and get rid of that old paper swiper. Plus all the other things smart phones can do.

Alt Cameras have noting to do with this.. try some place else... SIGH...........

There is a category choice here that says "Cell Phones." There is also an "About" section on the forum's top page, which says:

Discussion of "alternative" cameras such as pinhole or zone-plate cameras, cell phone cameras, and "toy cameras" (such as Lomos, Holgas, and Dianas).

Where do you get the idea that this forum does not include cell phones?

Dennis, I believe the MilestoneX is a

renamed DroidX, which was succeeded

by the DroidX2. The original DroidX has

an excellent camera, is capable of very

sharp image capture. The MilestoneX

may have made some improvements,

but the DroidX does have a bit of

shutter lag, and sometimes has a little

trouble with low light focus a few feet

out. The shutter is rated to 1/1000 sec,

and according to exif data the lens is

38mm/f2.8 {35 format equiv). Mineral

glass protects the lens, and best of all,

camera has an actual shutter release

button with half-press focus confirm

(software dependent). Best full featured

photo app I've found is ProCapture

(formerly CameraAdvance). Is one of

the few apps besides the stock app that

takes advantage of the shutter half-

press feature.

Working with the limitations inherent to

a smartphone is sort of fun, helps tickle

one's creative rib.
