mukul_dube
My E-3 came back today, a month and a day after it was sent -- for the second time -- to Creative Peripherals in Mumbai (Bombay), the authorised service centre of Olympus.
The photo shows that back focus was not corrected. I had focussed on the middle match-box but those to the left, farther from the camera, are sharper.
It is particularly annoying that Olympus in Japan and in Singapore, their HQ for the Asia Pacific region, knew of the problems with my camera and that it had gone to Mumbai.

wharridge
I know it shouldn't effect the result but have you tried this test with different lenses ?
mukul_dube
Wayne, the back focus is seen with three of my four lenses.
mukul_dube
The earlier photo was taken at night with bounced flash. As there may not have been enough light for the auto-focus, I took another in daytime with the same 14-54 lens.

claudinho
My experience repairing cameras in camera service (other brands) is a pain
I recommend to send cameras for repair only if they still are under warranty and the seller pays everything.
I prefer to fix cameras or lenses by myself (when it is possible) or otherwise I forget about them.
Ken Katz
Its frustrating when a service center can't fix an obvious performance issue. I generally find that they are usually much better fixing more significant failures, especially when the fix is to replace a major part, and less successful fixing these more subtle issues. If the lenses are especially valuable to you then it may make sense to find a replacement camera body that works better. I have seen very attractive pricing on used EM-1's and that should provide reasonable AF performance, far, far better sensor performance, and with the PDAF system, no chance of seeing any back-focus issues. mukul_dube
Thank you, Kenneth. The lenses won't fetch much if sold -- but they are good and have great use value. I shall see how it goes with the E-3 when I work at f/5.6 or f/8.
