1)Does anyone know where I can buy this black grate that holds canvases? Or a stand that holds a canvas? Here's an example:
http://blinkdcblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/glenview-mansion-bridal-show-sucess.html

2)Also, do you always give gift bags away to brides? What do you put in them?

3) How many sample albums do you suggest having?

4) Where do you get a table cloth with your name on it?
Like this- http://media.photobucket.com/image/bridal%20show%20photography%20booth/jonleidel/Bridal%20show/UM_ATL_2010_001.jpg

5) In that picture above, where do you get that tall sign that stands up? Does anyone know a place to order them?
6) Is there anything else I really need that is unique?

Thanks! :)

1. Check out Lowe's or Home Depot - depending on which you prefer....They may have something like that cheaper than a design / display specialist.

2. No...but if I did - it would be a coupon, chocolate, pen, card...

3. don't know...

4. I doubt that they'd "Give it to you" unless you dropped a few grand on other product, but I'm sure they'd sell you one or 5.... ;-)

5. Can't see the photo - but I'm guessing that the friendly graphics store could provide one... as part of that few grand...

6. Only you can answer that one...

1)Here's an awesome website with lots of great options for the bridal show http://www.displayit.com they also have easels too.
2) I dont think gift bags are necessary.
3) 3+ albums in a variety of sizes are good to have. I've been to shows were photographers had 3 albums up to 8 albums (variety of sizes and purposes like an engagement album, guest sign in book and wedding albums, parent albums).

I got married last year and went to two bridal shows so I can offer some input from a bride's POV:
2. Gift bags were nice if they had candy, but the bags just ended up lost in my large bridal expo bag. What stood out to me after the show were the nice brochures that I picked up.
3. In a busy expo with at least 50 photographer booths, I skipped right on by any that didnt have an album available to look at. While big pictures displayed at the booth caught my eye, I wanted to see a full album once I was there. I'm not sure what a good number would be, just make sure more than 1 or 2 brides can get a look without waiting!
6. Not sure if you're up to it, but I always went to the booths that were raffling off free engagement sessions, boudoir pics, a discounted wedding package, etc. It's a great way to spark interest in your photos, get e-mail addresses to send little reminders about your business, and secure a wedding package if the couple liked your e-session.
I actually booked with a photographer who did this. While I didnt win their prize, I received e-mails every so often with updates (note--not spammed to death like some photographer's still do to me, way after my wedding!) and decided to book an engagement session with them. This is also smart because I was much more likely to offer my information for a prize; I was much more picky about photographer's who didnt offer any incentive.
One final note: dont be shy! It might be scary with a zillion excited brides walking around, but if one casually looks over to your booth, hoping for some kind of "click" or connection or anything, look back and smile and ask about what they're looking for in their big day! I came across many, many photographers who were so timid that I just felt uncomfortable and moved on. While I had some questions, it would have been nice if the photographer asked me something besides "so when's your wedding?" There might have been some who felt their pictures did the talking, or that brides should know what they want and ask all the questions, but that wasnt me. The photographers I looked up online after the event were the ones that generally seemed interested in learning more about what I want and offering ideas.

Good luck at the show!
Edit: Also, have some writing paper with your contact info or space on your brochure for a bride to write notes. I had specific questions to ask the photographer's but not a good system for keeping track of them. I wanted to make sure I didnt mix up notes with the photog and tried (unsuccessfully) to write on their brochures (which didnt have much open space).

 • 2 weeks later...

Miss Kay - I am doing a bridal show this weekend and was looking for the very thing you inquired about - well didn't find it - but I did write the photographer and she wrote me back but didn't give a lot of good data - still waiting... but here is what we found that is working great. TARGET - has wire boxes that you put together yourself - they are in the storage area - the wire pieces are about 12x12 or so and we tie wraped them together to created a grid... then i am using two of my light stands to tie them to and putting IKEA lights on top of the stands - I think it looks really cool on a budget - the box of metal grids was 17.00 - I will take pictures this weekend andpost them for you... hope you do well at your show...
