ShunCheung
Basic Guidelines: In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include "hand of man elements". Please refrain from images with buildings or human made structures like roads, fences, walls. Pets are not permitted. Captive subjects in zoos, arboretums, or aquariums are permitted, but must be declared, and must focus on the subject, not the captivity. Images with obvious human made elements will likely be deleted from the thread, with an explanation to the photographer. Guidelines are based on PSA rules governing Nature photography which also cover the Nature Forum. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Each member please post no more than just one image to this weekly thread per week. brown pelicans

Mike Dale
Had to Google it. Thats a BIG snake. Yep, it was about 6ft at least. It was just sunbathing in the middle of the track up the mountain. Not many people use it but I shooed it off the road when I’d taken the shots so it didn’t get run over.
Laura Weishaupt
Mike, Nice of you to get the snake out of harm's way. Black Rat Snakes are great. They are the perfect snake for people who are afraid of snakes because they are docile, big, good looking, and move fairly slow as they make their way through the forest. I had a great encounter with a 6 footer. It checked out my mushroom basket, then went on to the camera bag on it's way down the trail.

I'm terrified of snakes:confused: If I come across one unexpectedly I scream like a little girl. It's all my Mothers fault, I wanted a Grass Snake when I was a kid but my Mother being terrified of snakes wouldn't let me have one. She obviously passed on her phobia to me. If I remember next week I'll post a Timber Rattlesnake picture.
