  1. A special tribute to Laura Weishaupt who started this forum five years ago and whose presence has been sorely missed. Every Monday morning I looked forward to Laura's gentle welcoming message and enthusiasm for nature in all its forms. All that and a good photographer, too! The work on this forum set the bar so high, challenging me to do better, to think more deeply, to appreciate the work of others. So, in tribute to Laura: PN-heron-6460.jpg Green heron in flight.

  7. I keep trying to capture these litte guys. This is about the best I've done so far. I suspect the bugs themselves are a little blurry!

Sally, thanks for starting the thread. I miss Laura also, but people do come and go in forums.

  9. Thanks, Shun. Yes, that's the way of public forums, coming and going.

Great picture! The light on the leading edge of the wings. . .

    Thanks Sally.

Bob Atkins founded this forum around 1997 or so. Back then, we were casual friends in New Jersey, working for different parts of AT&T/Lucent Technologies. We saw each other maybe once a year, and he invited me to A few years after that, my wife and I moved back to California, but we have visited Bob a couple of times. A few years ago, Bob moved to Maine after retirement and we are not quite in touch with him any more, and Bob has disappeared from altogether.

But I am still around after over two decades.

  12. Sally, thanks.
Just back from vacation in CA where I was able to meet Sally and another pnetter. Lots of fun was had by all. There might even be a good photo or two.
Yes, MiN is 5 years old. As they say in Lousiana, laissez le bon temps rouler.
