corey_narsted
Is it possible that using both bci-6 and cli-8 inks in a printer at the same time might throw off the colours? My i9900 printer hasn't been as reliable as it was since the summer, when I first started buying 8-series inks.
brainbubba_motornapkins
Canon's website lists only the BCI-6 inks as being compatible with the i9900. The CLI-8 inks are "designed for the Canon PIXMA iP4200 / iP5200 / iP5200R / iP6600D / iP6700D inkjet printers. Also compatible with Canon PIXMA MP 500 / 530 / 800 / 800R / 830 / 950 and the Canon PIXMA Pro 9000. This could be what is causing your problems. I would switch immediately back to only BCI-6 (or compatible 3d party) inks and see if it clears up. If it doesn't, you may need to try more drastic measures, such as flushing the print heads. At worst: print head replacement. Ouch!
john_ciesla
This is an interesting question, as I just purchased a new printhead for my I9900 after several thousand prints (its just worn out). The new CLI-8 inks sound interesting for their longevity. What is interesting is that the printheads are the same for the I9900 and the new Pro 9000 that uses the CLI-8 inks. (Canon part QY6-055) The new inks "should" not damage the printhead as its the same, is this a software issue, or does Canon really just want us to purchase new printers?
