<p>Tim,

<h3>CIRCLE OF CONFUSION</H3>

 

 

<P>Image of a point source is only pin sharp at the exact image plane,

deviate from here, the image will become blurry, and its a circle

called "circle of confusion".

The maximum diameter of circle of confusion is chosen :

<li> for 35mm camera: 1/30 mm

<li> for 8x11 camera 1/60 to 1/100mm
