Minox 35 EL - wide gaps between frames

I just shot a roll with my ancient Minox 35EL, and found afterwards

that the gaps between the frames vary considerably. A few of the

gaps were what I would call normal - 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch, but

most of the gaps between the frames were 1/4 inch to maybe as much

as 3/8 of an inch.

 

Is this a common problem with older 35s? Is there a simple

adjustment / fix?<div></div>

It is rather uncommon. I think the sprocket or drive gear of the film advance spindle may have worn out in your EL.
