craig_h1
I just got a Minolta XG9 & there seems to be dirt on the inside of the focusing screen. It looks as if I can take the screen out. How can I do this? Thank you, Craig
Uncle Goose
I think the system for holding the focusscreen is the same as the XD7/XD11. This is what you have to do: get yourself a tweezer, a blowbrush and a very fine crosshead screwdriver Then you look at the rim just above the focusscreen, you should see 2 little screws, remove these and you can take off a small metal plate, under that plate you find another small metal piece that holds the actual screen, remove it. Now you can take out the focus screen with the tweezers and clean the whole thing (carefully, as you don't want to damage the mirrors, use blowbrush here). To put it back you just do the opposite but make sure your focusscreen sits in the small railthing on the bottom (tweezers come in handy here). Push the focusscreen in place an mount the other parts back as they were. That's how you have to do it if it's the same as the XD7/XD11.
Uncle Goose
There are different focusscreens available for the X-series of minolta but it's damn hard to get some.
craig_h1
Thank you, But I did not see any screws that had to be removed. I was able to use just the tweezers. Craig
