edthompson
I have one of the first releases of the Maxxim 7000 with the stacked X's. I activated the camera recently and it began to heat up. Possibly a circuit board that is going bad. Does anyone know of a place that will repair or refurbish this camera. Outside of my old K1000 that I gave to my daughter years ago this has been the best. Let me know. Thank you so very much.
JDMvW
I'm afraid it is one of those increasingly sad situations where buying a working version will be far less than a repair. I found one of these with the "Exxon" exes = Minolta Maxxum 7000 the early ‘crossed-x’ version
BeBu Lamar
Unless you really like the stacked X's buying another Maxxum 7000 is much less expensive. Imagine how long it would take to fix it then multiply by a reasonable hourly rate and you will see a Maxxum 7000 isn't worth more than a couple of labor hours. Mike Gammill
Unlikely that new circuit boards or other electronic replacements would still be available. You could get a physically damaged one if its electronics are intact to serve as a donor, but for a few dollars more you could likely find a fully functional replacement. john_tran14
and why Maxxum 7000? while a Maxxum 9 can be found for under $200. I would also recommend the 9Xi and the Maxxum 7. I prefer the 9xi, not the 9 because of the mode dial
PaulCoen
One advantage of the 7 (and the 5) is that they will work with the later Minolta (and Sony) SSM/SAM full-frame lenses - the 9 won't autofocus with them unless it was upgraded later (you could have that done at a Minolta repair center back in the day).
