andreas_carl
I am considering a Minolta Dimage A2 for a Summer trip to Europe. I understand that there are some problems with early production with this camera, One of these is "pink banding" in the EVF. To those of you who are using this camera: doeas every A2 have this problem, or only some? How severe an issue is this? Any other problems I need to look out for? magnus_nystedt
I don't actually have an A2 but it's been ordered, and I've been reading up on it just like you. It seems to me the pink in the EVF only occurs when you shoot right into very bright light and it seems to not affect the pictures taken. But I would also want to hear from actual A2 users :-) //Magnus
phule
<< pink in the EVF only occurs when you shoot right into very bright light >> Then this is digital blooming and is no different than any other LCD. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=007i2T
andreas_carl
It probably is a "kind of digital blooming", but not the purple fringe variety. My understanding is, that this has to do with the readout from the CCD to the EVF. The pink vertical stripes do NOT show up in the actual image taken, only the viewfinder. From my reading it appears that some cameras are more sever in this respect than others, so I am curious if someone who has had that problem and returned their camera, ever got one without this problem...? marc p.
I don't have a Minolta so I can't comment but I can tell you that such banding definitely happens in my F828's EVF when I shoot in the sun (but then, the pictures are clean).
