Microphen HP5+ @ 600

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have 3 rools HP5+ that I pushed at 600 (or 640, I exposed on Leica R4s using

the ISO setting between 400 and 800). I would like to develop in Microphen but

I cannot find any information about that ISO setting. So I would try to use an

averange between 400 and 800 plus 20%: total 9 minutes in stock.

Do you think that it could be a good choice?

I would like to receive a weel balanced negative with good and sharp details.

Domenico,

fresh stock Microphen HP5 rated @ 400 asa should be 6 mins @ 20C an extra minute and a half should be more than enough I think 9 mins is too much. If you are going to scan the negs you really dont want them too punchy, also remenber over development will dramatically increase grain.

regards Steve

I have a feeling that the difference between 400 and 600 is no more than the error in exposure we can often make without realizing it, even after we develop the film. It is, after all, a logarithmic progression, and manufacturing tolerances can be that much. Log (640/400) = 0.18. What I'm saying is that the actual film speed of the roll you have might be different from the nominal speed by that amount.
