kbev
Day #2 Lesson learned: If they say the flag raising ceremony starts at 8am, you'll miss it if you arrive at 8:05am. Lots of spots on Day 2 that you may want to consider shooting. Again, I'm not trying to blog, just provide some insight into where/what you may want to shoot in Mexico City. Thanks again to everyone who gave me tips. Flag raising in the Plaza - Missed it. Arrived at 8:05! Cathedral - you aren't allowed to use a flash in here, so you'll need fast glass, a high ISO, or both. There are a lot of gresat shots inside, especially with a wide angle lens. Don't forget to "look up" to the ceiling. There are a lot of things in here, enough said. (1-2 hours) Anthropology Museum - This was worth the $45p if you like museums. No flash inside, so be prepared. It may be worth bringing a tripod. If you aren't shooting RAW (like I wasn't), be sure you "chimp" and make sure your white balance is right. There are a lot of transitions from sun-shade-indoor lighting and back. If you aren't careful, things will look nuts. If you have the urge, bring a tripod. I'm not a big history museum buff, but this was actually pretty nice. (2-3 hours) Zoo - Right in the park, the zoo is free. I'm glad it was free, I would have been miffed if I had paid. It isn't a great zoo and really not worth the effort They have a few animals, but many of the enclosures are small and cramped. I won't say much else. San Angel - This was a sleepy, quiet part of the city that reminded me of Charlestown, Nevis (or another sleepy caribbean town). There were lots of artists and vendors. I was with freinds and didn't stop too much to shoot. Be sure to look up and check out some of the windows. We did go to the Diego Rivera studio/ house, nice to see (if you like that stuff). It was 10p to enter (30p if you want to shoot). The Carillo Gil Art museum wouldn't let me shoot with my "professional" nikon. Lastly, we had dinner at the San Angel in - good meal and even some photo ops if you want. That's all I got to share....
