graskett
Is it possible to use/adapt a Metz Flash unit--Mecablitz 202 --to use with a Canon Eos Digital SLR? These are fine flash units and I have 2 of them that I use with my medium format film shooting. I'm just wondering if there'a a way to use them with the digital camera's. jcuknz
You should not use it connected directly to your camera becuase it is reported to have a trigger voltage of 200v .... which is most likely not good for your camera's electronics. [www.botzilla.com] Indirectly you should be safe using something called a Wein adaptor which isolates the camera from the flash. Then there are wireless triggers. I'm sure there are other wrinkles which I don't know about but with the Wein you should at least be able to work manually or using the flash unit's automatics ... is it like the Sunpak in respect to having automatics so you don't have to change aperture as you come closer with an operating range of say 10 or 15ft down to 18" at f/5.6 or f/8.
