johnsloan
Hey Marc, Just curious if you have had a chance to give a fair review of your new toy. Do you notice a big difference in quality? Do you have any images you could upload? Just curious.
fotografz
Nope. Will use it at a Christmas party for kids on Sunday. Shot in the studio with it and used it instead of the MF Digital back. But the shot wasn't that critical. Appears very good at high ISOs.
william_au
While we have Marc on the topic, what are your thoughts after shooting a season with the Mark II? Do you find its advantages over the 20D to be worth the price difference for wedding work? The Mark II certainly looks/sounds like a dream: construction, fps, AF, 1.3x crop. The weight of it makes me a little hesitant - I'm used to tiny Pentaxes. How does it handle with flash+bracket+24-70 2.8? The 20D seems a good alternative for its price and weight, but some of the QC issues I've heard make me wonder about its reliability.

fotografz
The 1DMKII is fassssssssst. Really fast. And as should be expected, the images are higher quality than the 20D, so allow more severe crops. 1DMKII is also more rugged and weather sealed. But I like the 20D. I mean who wants to lug around a 1DMKII all the time?
fotografz
Grant, I now use all three of the Canons. He's asking about the 1DMKII not the 1DsMKII that I just got.

william_au
Sorry, was asking about the 1d Mark II. Just the idea of that one is stretching the wallet. I'd have to mortgage a body part to even think about a 1Ds Mark II :)
fotografz
Yeah, William switched horses midstream 'cause he knows I've been using the 1DMKII for awhile now. I agree Grant, the monikers these companies come up with are laughable. Canon comes out with the D10 then the D30 and D60 then reverts to the 20D which indicates absolutely nothing about the camera. Nikon D1x, D1h. I get the "h" (high-speed) but what's the "x" mean? With the IDs the "s" is suppose to mean studio.
iskandar_azaman___kuala_lu
I've always wondered why they can't just stick with the same name when they replace a camera? A 1999 BMW 3-Series and the 2004 BMW 3-series is still called a 3 Series.
