manuel_garcia5
Sorry if this has been asked before. I would love to try slide film however Im not crazy about the cardboard holder each frame comes in. Does anyone know of a mail order/online/retailer that processes slides and cuts them into strips like 35mm negative? My local Ritz sends them out and for processing and they want $30 a roll with prints. All I need is a processor and for them to be cut into strips so I can scan and print them myself. Let me know, Thanks!
randall ellis
Most quality shops will understand what you mean if you ask for your film sleeved or uncut. Ask first to be sure, but most everyone outside of crapmart or mall photo stores will have no problem. I use a local shop for all my E6 work now, but when I used Kodachrome, A and I never cut my film if I asked for it sleeved. When it shows up, just cut it to the length you want. Film cutters are cheap or if you have steady hands you can just use scissors. - Randy
charles_stobbs3
Especially steady hands if your slicing half frame pictures. There's only a very tiny space between them. I've inadvertantly cropped a few.
milbrua
Manual, What Randall said. Keep in mind that the cardboard or plastic mounts provide a really handy way to handle the slides without getting your fingerprints on the film. I used to get my E-6 film delivered uncut and unmounted, but I've recently switched to having the film mounted, just because it's easier to handle. Takes some of the automation out of scanning, however. -Bruce

bill_tuthill
Calypso (calypsoinc.com) near the SJC airport charges less than A&I, $5.15 versus $8 for 135-36 overnight. Both are top-notch.
