russell_brooks
Just wanted to see if anyone else has a similar experience. The shutter button on my M7 jams. It stays stuck down and only pops back up when I forward the film. But even that is hard and makes a funny noise. Needless to say it's going back to Leica. But I wanted to find out if it's because of the electronics or if it's just mechanical.<br>Also, fwiw, the rangefinder patch flares on my copy as well... steve_barnett2
I think other people who have had something similar happen turn the speed dial from auto to a mechanical speed to close the shutter. I haven't heard of anybody being able to advance the film while the shutter is open! I don't think anybody yet knows what combination of circumstances causes it. I don't think it has happened when using the camera in manual mode, unless you know different, and seems to be something to do with the camera wanting to make a full 32 sec auto exposure. What were the exact circumstances?
xavier_dalfort
Hello Russel. I have in the past read some similar experience to yours. Although I own only a CL and a R7, I know for sure that no camera can stand a On to Off transition. Usually, the shutter shuts itself. It happened to me on Auto mode with the R7, putting the camera to Off solved it. The M7 is not that sophisticated, I've seen some Minolta SLR from the X serie with a horizontal cloth shutter controled by electronic, so I guess Leica can do it... Enjoy your M7.
