Low Battery file format

<p>Hi all- I was shooting some senior photos the other day with my Rebel XT. I shoot RAW and that's what the camera was set to. After the first 10 minutes or so, I noticed the battery indicator was showing low, so I replaced it with a fresh one and continued the shoot. As I'm going thru the images, I find the first 6-8 were recorded as JPEG. Then after the battery was switched, the files are in the RAW format. Is this the default action, that it takes more battery power to create a RAW file? It's not mentioned anywhere in the literature,, and it's not a problem, just thought someone may know. Thanks.</p>

<p>that makes no sense. it should be the other way around if anything. it takes significant processing to generate the jpg from the original raw bits (which are ultimately the beginning).</p>

<p>Did you eventually also switch modes (like from Av to Portrait mode)? ... In some modes, the camera only records jpg ... raw is only selectable in M, Av, Tv, P.</p>

<p>I have an XTi and have done that by inadvertently switching to the green box on the selector when turning the camera on and off. Terrible ergonomics on the XTi. Great pictures for the price. </p>

<p>I may have turned over to the green box for a bit of fill flash-maybe that's what did it. I agree that jpg processing would take more power, that's why I thought it curious. Thanks</p>
