michael_kuhne
It is on the way. I decided to pass on the K-3. From all accounts by various sources, owners, visual image comparisons, and test results so far, the K-3 yields even better IQ than the K-5 but only below ISO 800. Since I shoot in a lot of low-light hand held situations, including indoor or night action sports requirung higher shutter speeds, the excellent low noise high ISO performance of my K-5 is preferable for me.

I already have the original K-5, which I love, so I thought instead of the K-3 maybe I'll get a second K-5, yet still get a little additional sharpness increase in the form of the K-5 IIs which still affords the excellent high ISO advantage. I'll then have one K-5 with the AA filter and the new one without.

The price from B&H was the clincher- $700! They also still have the discontinued original (non-HD coating) DA 40mm Limited priced at just $364! This tiny but sharp lens will suit the compact K-5 or especially my very compact K-r very well. I am getting the K-5 IIs, the DA 40 Limited lens, and a Metz AF 58-2 flash for not much more than a K-3!!

I 'll get a K-3 in the not-too-distant-future but I won't give up my K-5 (or K-5IIs). My take is that these bodies have quite distinct strengths & weaknesses. Fortunately, they all use the same battery.
I think you'll like the K-5IIs. There's a distinct quality to the images which takes a bit of getting used to but it can breathe new life into old lenses--like my SMC 1000/8.
