tony_ramos
Hi, Is there anyone out there who might be familiar with an Italian photographer by the name of G. Togni. I recently purchased some images of the Roman countryside circa 1900-1920's by this photographer and would appreciate any information. They are all stamped on the back with: G. TOGNI - ROMA Via 4 Fontane N. 174 Via Vittorio Veneto N. 195 Thanks in advance! Tony
donald_brewster
A good reference to start with is "Pages of Italian Photography 1900-1998" by Robert Valtorta. You might also contact the Alinari Museum of Photographic History and Archives in Florence: Alinari Museum Largo Alinari 15 Florence 50123 Italy Phone: +39 055 23951 Fax: +39 055 2382857 http://www.alinari.com/ For some reason it is sticking in my head that there used to be a photo store/studio in Rome by that name (a long time ago) -- I believe it was "Foto Gianni Togni" (same as the contemporary singer) -- but I have no idea if my recollection is correct or if there is a connection to your photographer.
