I may be wrong, but somehow «quick start time», «little to no shutter lag» and «price point not high» don't entirely fit together. As for «slim and sexy», well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course. I you find this rare gem, let us know :)

You probably know that already, but just in case, a good source of information is Dpreview, at:
« http://www.dpreview.com/ » They review and they list technical specs for many cameras.

Ok...slim and sexy with no shutter lag is hard! But! A small, compact, good camera that fits your wants fits well under the new canon digital elph series. A sleek and great looking little camera. And they have packed a TON of features into it! Take your budget and look up the best elph that fits. See if that fits what you are looking for! Hope this helps you out my friend

Yes, that model was just announced and is called the TL320 in the US. The 24-120/2.8-7.3 lens is certainly interesting but slow at the long end. Samsung claims the AMO LED screen is brighter than TFT LCD in full sunlight or low light. The similar WB550 (HZ15) is even more interesting with a faster 24-240/3.3-5.8 lens (crop equivalent). How do you know it has minimal shutter lag?

I am seriously looking at the Canon SD990is. All cameras available have flaws. It is a 36-133mm I would prefer to have a wider angle of view and longer zoom. I like the moderate amount of manual adjustment offered... but it is not an Aperature or Shutter priority model... none are!
My priorities are for a optical viewfinder, about an inch thick, good pic and build quality. With my larger hands the Sony models of compacts just are too uncomfortable and the back buttons and jog features are uneasy to use. I wish that RAW was available.
I am a Nikon D300 owner and am looking for something easy to carry just about anywhere.
Here is a site that lists most reviews for selected models... You'll get tired of researching your choices

Here is another that allows you to sort by features

I forgot to mention that the Canon SD990is has a "Quick Shot" setting that allows for virtually no shutter lag... but for this feature the LCD does not display the scene, only info about the shot (exposure, histogram, etc.) ... like some DSLRs. So you have to use the viewfinder for this.
Happy shopping/shooting!
