Looking for a copy of Minolta Dimage Scanning software

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up a Dimage Scan Multi and have been using Vuescan with it with some mixed results. I would like to compare the workflow and results to the original Dimage software, but the scanner did not come with a copy. Also, Konica Minolta no longer offers it for download as far as I can tell. Would anyone have a copy that they would be willing to share? Or sell? I would need any version that works with the original Scan Multi, not the Multi II, although I have read that this software will work with the original scanner as well. Please let me know if anyone can help out. I am running the scanner on an old Windows 2000 box so a Mac version would not work.

Thanks!

I've got one. Where are you ? What's the best way to get it to you. I could burn it to CD and mail it to you. Or maybe there is someway to email it as an attachment ? If so someone will have to tell me how. I've been running mine on an old XP laptop but a scsi board just arrived that I bought on ebay so I will be attempting to get it working on my Windows 8.1 machine. Not sure how that is going to work out....
I have had way better results using Silverfast but haven't tried Vuescan though I have it installed in my Windows 8.1 machine...

You can still download the driver software here's the link
http://download2.konicaminoltaeurope.com/openmind/technic/kmphdwl.nsf/ftsearch?openagent&ch=CAM&dist=BEU&ui=EN&dg=sw&prod=DIMAGE%20SCAN%20MULTI&dsg=&os=Windows%20XP&lang=English&ml=0&rid=C1256AE800480E96&sub=&pcat=&pcc=0&fr=0&frs=
If that doesn't work go to
http://www.konicaminoltasupport.com/
and select Product Overview in English then navigate through to Dimage Scanner Series and select the Multi 1 then Software and you're at the driver download page.

Just a note to other Minolta scanner users, this link also leads to drivers for all other models too.

Just had a look through my cd pile. I also have a copy of Silverfast SE I could pass on. Far superior to the original Minolta software in my opinion. Be advised that as far as I know, neither will run on anything more modern than an XP machine. Though someone may have a way of doing it ? Modern versions of Vuescan are the only way on a modern machine to my knowledge.

I think that once you get over the steep learning curve with VueScan, you might find it superior to the original manufacturer software, but if you do get a working (on modern machines) version of the Dimage software (or even if you don't), please give us a report back on whether/how it works and how well, especially compared to VueScan.

I would not expect Silverfast to be notably superior to VueScan, once you get control of the settings in the latter.

Good luck, and thanks if you do follow-up.

Garth,

I appreciate the offer! I am in Green bay, Wisconsin. Depending on the size of the software, it could be sent as an e-mail attachment, but I am not sure how large it is. My e-mail is vandkc@yahoo.com. PM me and we can work out the details of the transfer via that channel.
I will definitely report back as to the comparisons between the two pieces of software once I am able to do so.

Thanks for all of the responses, I really appreciate the help!

Good luck with the Dimage software. I never liked it and prefer VueScan.

^ I find strengths in both programs. First and foremost, only the Minolta software has ICE defect reduction. Vuescan has a proprietory cleaning function, but it's a sorry second, in my experience.

Also, I like the ability to manually focus with the front knob, this scanner has limited depth-of-focus: warped film in particular tests it's limits, and manual focus can be invaluable.
