long exposure trouble nikon d300

I hope its just me but when i try a 30 sec daylight exposure all i get is an

over exposed white pic .I have tried the all the modes reduced and increased

apature along with shutter speeds ( please help

I don't think you can set the ISO or aperture so that a 30 second daylight exposure won't be white (totally overexposed). Thirty seconds in daylight is a long time. You said you had changed shutter speeds but also said the exposure was 30 seconds.

Most likely you have too much light. You will need to use a neutral density filter to cut down the light levels. They are measured using a log scale, so a .3 will reduce the light by 1/2 (1 stop), and a .9 will reduce the light by three stops.

Lo-1 on the d300 is iso 100, assuming you are shooting something in direct sunlight you would need an 11 stop ND filter to shoot at even f22 for 30 seconds.

WHY are you trying to get a 30sec daylight exposure? What are you shooting?

A 30 second daylight exposure would overexpose at even the smallest lens aperture and the lowest ISO. Get the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson.
