rachelle_m.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice in my previous post over the past week --it's been very helpful. I'm leaving for London later this evening, but as I waspacking last night I realized that I am completely out of 120 film. I know ofcourse that I'll be able to find it in London, I was just wondering if there areany particular camera shops that have better prices than others, or are morelikely to carry a variety of 120 film (although I'll get by with just Tri-X ifneeded). Similarly, I'd like to know which shops might be worth exploring for used filmgear (35mm and medium format). I know London is not the cheapest place forstuff like this but I'd like to see what's available anyway. Thanks all.
ian_tindale
I picked up a ten pack of new HP5+ in 120 for just over fifteen quid yesterday - http://www.silverprint.co.uk/ are doing a 30% discount on ten or more Ilford films right now. colin carron
Silverprint are good for the range of stock carried while Teamwork cover the whole range of photograpic suppilies for the professional. www.teamworkphoto.co.uk They have a secondhand selection too though ebay is probably the best for price if rather more risky. robert x
Calumet in Soho on Wardour Street (near Oxford Street end). For second hand gear the best place is not so far away - a shop/cafe called Aperture, at 44 Museum Street, opposite the British Museum.
mike_stemberg
I'm not a film user ..yet! rachelle_m.
Wow -- thanks everyone -- didn't know what kind of response I would get at the last minute but that's great. I know about Calumet of course (having ordered from them before), but I needed to know what the locals know. Cheers everyone!
nickwhite
Calumet (W1) will certainly be your best bet unless you want to waste time searching about, multiples such as Jessops, London Camera Exchange and Jacobs will probably have small stocks. nickwhite
For used gear LCE (98 Strand) http://www.lcegroup.co.uk/index_group.php are worth checking out.
steve_davey1
Definitely Jacobs. Their branch on New Oxford Street has a phenomenal secondhand department at the back, including a lot of pro, semi pro and film gear. I daren't go in there these days, lest I buy something! Ask for Colin. Steve
