stanley1
I have a question about ebay radio triggers and speedlights with the quick-lock/release shoes (SB-80DX, SB-600, SB-800, etc.) Well, I just got a second hand SB-80DX today and unlike my older Nikon strobes, the shoe has a quick-lock/release. Since it uses a locking pin and doesn't screw down, I can't figure out a way to securely lock this down onto my ebay radio trigger - other than gaffer taping the hell out of it. Any solutions? kohanmike
Nikon has a 'foot' flash-stand that has a standard screw mount in the bottom. It was included with with my SB600. It has 3 slots on top to slip in the flash and lock it. I lost mine a couple days ago and bought a new one at the Nikon dealer for $9 US. It's the AS-19. http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/ProductDetail.page?pid=4335
stanley1
Thanks for the tip, but the flash still wouldn't be connected to the radio trigger's hotshoe
rob_piontek
How about connecting the trigger to the flash with a sync cord instead of the shoe mount? Then you can use the Nikon foot.
nickwhite
Stanley, perhaps you could provide a link to the ebay trigger concerned; maybe I'm missing something here but all the triggers I've used/seen including ebay ones, elinchrom, pocketwizard, etc would NOT connect to the flashgun hotshoe - they all connect via PC (with hot shoe adapter if no socket on the gun). The only hotshoe connection is on the transmitter which is a push fit in the camera's hotshoe, the reciever connects as previously described to the flashgun. The SB-80DX has a pc socket on the side, which the receiver should connect to?
rob_piontek
One of the models from gadgetinfinity has a receiver with a shoe mount and also a pc connector.
