Found this guy in southern Oregon in the watershed lands above Ashland, OR this weekend. He doesn't look anything like the pix of the common lizards in the area. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Steve

00cfCP-549289684.jpg.5fa9ce26ba99761bbd0f83516bc32aa4.jpg

Yes I'd guess a western fence lizard too, they have the ability to change pigmentation on their scales. Not as dramatic as a chameleon but they do turn darker to help warm up in the morning sun or in dappled sunlight, and then lighten up (maybe figuratively as well?) and revert to their typical woody-brownish camouflage pattern once they've reached optimal body temperature.
