lightroom for Leica and Nikon

I got my Lightroom package when I bought my Leica M.<br>

I recently got a Nikon D500 and I can't import the Nikon RAW pictures in Lightroom.<br>

Is this a compatibility issue or a simple update is enough ? how can I do it ?<br>

<p>Lightroom uses Adobe Camera Raw for reading raw files. For a given version of lightroom, they update it for some number of years, but then cut it off. You may need to upgrade to a newer version of Lightroom to get D500 support.</p>

Or use Adobe's (free) DNG converter to convert the NEF files to DNG. It's an extra step in your workflow but it saves you

from upgrading LR. Nowadays LR is 64 bits only, that can be a reason to stick with an older version. LR is updated

regularly, newer versions have more options. See if there is an extra reason to upgrade.

<p>According to the Adobe website you need Lightroom 6.5 or later and Camera Raw 9.5 or later for D500 support. Present versions are 6.8 and 9.8.</p>
