justinweiss
I recently hardware calibrated my NEC monitor with the NEC SpectraView II software and sensor. Right after that, I opened up Lightroom, but the gallery in Library mode only showed blank squares where the thumbnails of my photos should be. All my files were still there, and the catalog was fine, but the thumbnails themselves would not show up. I also could not view the photos in Develop mode or any other view.

A little googling indicated that this meant Lightroom has decided that my monitor's new post-calibration profile is "corrupt". I opened up Color Management in my computer's Control Panel (Windows Vista), removed the new profile and replaced it with the old profile and now Lightroom works fine.

So, why did a fresh calibration cause this problem, and how can I avoid it? I don't want to have to never calibrate my monitor again just so Lightroom will work! Thanks.
justinweiss
I found the answer to my own question on the Adobe user forums. Apparently it is kind of a known issue, but it can apparently be solved (haven't tried it myself yet) by creating individual names for your newly-calibrated profiles so Lightroom doesn't get confused.

Here's the link in case anyone else has this problem:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/421388
