light socket studio flashes

i was wondeering if lights like these (

on people or items in my own house. and what thier limitations could

very well be. i have some regularstudio strobes for my studio. but

i'm jsut looking for something cheap to carry with me when i travel.

please let me know what u think.

They're pretty cheap but not that bad. They're not as consistent as more expensive strobes and I have no idea how the color temperature compares but it seems ok.

Took This shot using 2 of those flashes and maybe the on camera flash at -2 compensation to trigger them or the chord. I bounced one of a white wall the other off a reflector.

Here I used one on the left to help light the background and provide a bit of accent on the abs. You can see the difference between it and the regular novatron head on the right that's lighting the background. Two novatron heads on either side of the camera shot through umbrellas with the right at -1 or -2 i think. From the looks of it I'd say -2.

Basically I think they're really neat. Wouldn't want to rely on them but they are convenient and cheap. Look at adorama to see how much they have them fore. They are pretty cheap and so are the sockets with umbrella holders. You can get cheap umbrellas and stands too since they are pretty light. There's even a barebulb type that I think would be cool to screw into table lamps for interior shots but I never tried it. The big drawback is no modelling lights.

I think i've mentioned they are cheap enough times :)
