Gear I Love – The Canon 100mm F/2.8L IS

 

These guys at Lensrentals actually do scientific testing (but with love) and have something much closer to a significant sample than anyone else that I know about.

 

Great for gearheads.

I bought that lens and am glad I didn't settle for the non IS. It's great for spiders and snakes!

I have the non-L version which is almost identical optically. It stays on my 6D 90% of the time. I love this lens for its versatility. It was about 1/2 the price of the L when the L first came out. Now the L is only about $200 more. So for the better weather sealing and IS, it's probably worth going for the L.

My brother has the non-IS, which was released first. I compared it with mine and could not see any difference in the few photos I took.

This is a lens I don't own, but I am intrigued. The only thing I currently have covering 100 mm is my Tamron 70-200 mm F/2.8. I sold my 100-400 L.
