Has anyone recently purchased or fabricated a lensboard for the busch 4x5 pressman camera? If so, where did you purchase it and how much did it cost you? If you made a lensboard for this camera, how did you do it? S.K. Grimes sells a lensboard for this camera for $65.00 and will drill a hole in it for an additional $25.00. Thanks. Bill

Bill, with a jeweler's frame saw, some epoxy, a 4 inch wide sheet of .015-.016 hobby shop aluminum and some flat black enamel you can make all the lensboards you want for a couple of dollars each. Cut out a piece the shape of the board holder opening and a second piece about 2 and a half inches across with the same rounded corners and a projection on the top edge about a half inch long and a quarter inch high. Fold the projection 90 degrees in a vise, epoxy the two pieces together, slip the board in the camera and mark the projection with the hold-down screw, and drill a small hole on the mark. Spray with flat black enamel. Presto, one blank board that looks like an original. With a compass, draw the size hole that you need, drill a hole to start the saw blade and cut it out. Smooth with a file to fit. Or you can check with Midwest Photo Exchange (MPEX).
