Lens hood cap/cover for 35mm Lux M f/1.4 ASPH

I need a lens hood cap (or cover) for my recently purchased (used) 35mm f/1.4

Summilux-M ASPH. Please can someone help me with the Leica part number for the

dedicated "official" lens hood cap?

 

Alternatively, does anyone make a generic soft cover that would stretch over the

lens hood and cover the hole in the corner of the lens hood?

But you are looking for the hood cap only, right?

The lens hood plastic cover is 14 040. (RRP 20 euros).

Yep that's 20 euro's for a 10 cent piece of plastic! I bought one recently for 35mm f2 asph!

The original Leica hood for the 35/1.4 Asph is a piece of cheap junk, and huge. I met a pro who turned me on to the all-metal Contax GG-2 Hood. It screws on to the 35 Lux, as it has a 46mm diameter, and the hood cap is a marvel of precision engineering, so smooth to put on and take off, and will not slip off.

 

For the 50/1.4 the perfect hood is the Contax GG-1.

 

You can get these on eBay all the time.

After doing some further I think the #14040 hood cap is not correct for the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. The #14040 is the correct hood for the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-R, although Adorama does list it for the 35mm M Lux ASPH. I think that is a mistake. The correct hood for the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH seems to be the #14039.

 

I was interested to hear about the Contax GG-2 hood, especially as high quality Chinese-made versions are available cheaply.
