Hi, I am a beginner at taking photos. I have a canon xsi and I use the standard cannon ef 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM IS. Bought it when I knew nothing except thought I needed to be able to zoom into my subjects. I take sports pictures for gymnastics. Its indoor, no flash and poor lighting. I have been able to get some decent pictures believe it or not but obviously I could do better. I dont want to spend the money for a 70-200 f/2.8. Well not that I don't want to, that's just way over my budget. I am wondering if I get the 85mm 1.8 would that give me good pictures but require cropping? and even with the cropping would the pictures be good? Right now I find myself using the 200mm quite a bit to get where I need but because the events are all over the gym it always is different. Any advice would be really great!
