Lens adapters/converters for Canon G3

I have searched extensively, both on photo.net and the web, for good

information on this topic and didn't come up with much. Does anyone

have experience/knowlege regarding wide-angle and telephoto

adapters/converters for the Canon PowerShot G3 (or G5)? I would

specifically like to know about the various brands, quality, and any

pros/cons to either the brand or specific lenses. I understand some

of the pitfalls of this approach, such as effects on the optical

viewfinder, etc., and possible vignetting with some combinations. Are

there other significant drawbacks? Though not a pro, I have 35 years

of 35mm and medium format experience, so I'm not a newbie to

photography - just taking my first excursion into the world of

digital.

Also take a look at this post where I have referred to a couple of links. HERE'S

I have the Kenko 2X Converter from Lensmate It works well; however I have noticed some chromatic aberrations with dark objects and bright back grounds. I am returning a RayNox wide converter since it had too much barrel distortion and the filter threads are inside the built in hood making filters use difficult. There is slight vigineting with a UV filter installed. I wanted to use my 77mm Poarizer with a step up ring but this will be impossible on this lens. I plan to buy the Tiffen Mega Wide converter if it becomes available.

I plan to write up my experiences with using the G3 and accessories if I can find the time.
