Leitz ca2502 lens

Recommended Posts

I have just had a Leitz CA2505 projector and have noticed that I

can't get the whole slide in focus.

I can get the centre in focus but not the edges or the edges in focus

but not the centre.

The lens is a Colourplan CF 2.5/90. I have been told it's for old

type cardboard mounts and the CF stands for curved something.

If it is the wrong lens can someone tell me what I need. I want

something as sharp as this lens which I find superb compared to my

crappy old Braun.

Thank's. Mick.......

Mick: CF stands for "curved field." You are correct, it's meant for cardboard-mounted slides where the whole film chip does not lie in a flat plane. The curved-field lens is supposed to be able to bring all the points on the curved film plane into focus at one lens setting. But--and you are correct again--they are mainly of value for older cardboard mounted slides, which tended to curve more, especially after they "pop", compared to modern mounts and emulsions. So if the CF not working for you, you need a FF (flat field) lens. The colorplan is available as an FF. Just be sure you get the right one to fit your projector. My 90mm Colorplan isn't marked "FF"; it is simply not marked as "CF" and appears to have a flat field.
