inspiration point studio
Check it out: http://www.leica-camera.us/home/ It's better than the old site, better product pictures and easier to surf around.
working camera
I especially like the intro to the "Leica MP Anthracite. A noble, understated appearance" a "durable" surface that chips off by simply looking at it. Perhaps it should read temporary understated noble appearance until used once quickly exhibiting that shabby well used worker camera look. C. Richard Williams
I don't think it's an improvement - more style than substance. As discussed when they first changed the site a few weeks ago, they seem to have removed the online missing/stolen registry and model enquiry forms, taken out the links to Leica photographers (apparently a marketing decision), and quietly disowned their user forum (now moved to www.leica-camera-user.com without Leica branding). It could use a bit more proofreading, too ("Leica products are not available everywhere, but in the entire world").
terry_rory
Even the giants like Nikon, Canon, Sony etc ALL have co.uk versions of their websites. Not Leica. Despite the fact we have a fully staffed Leica UK HQ at Milton Keynes, as far as the website is concerned everyone in the world is either German or American. That must really impress potential customers from other geographies and emerging mega-markets like China! Reminds me of US corporate thinking where there is only the USA and ROW (rest of world) no Afica, no Europe, no China or Japan just ROW. If Leica are going to be as dismissive of markets outside DE and USA then good luck. Trevor Hare from ROW.
terry_rory
Actually I may be wrong. I have just found .co.uk and even a French Leica site. The French will love this though.... http://www.leica-camera.fr/home/ It is all written in English! Hahahahaha The Italian site? http://www.leica-camera.it/home/ All in English! So the geography specific sites are all in English and all ask you what country you are in when you want a dealer. Ridiculous.
al_kaplan1
I thought that Miami, FL was the one place on the planet where supposedly educated people DIDN'T speak and read English.

One of the companies we deal with places the entire continent of Africa under 'Greater Europe'.

Hahahahaha The Italian site? http://www.leica-camera.it/home/ All in English! As every Englishman knows, the only way to speak to those "foreign types" is to speak English v e r y s l o w l y and VERY LOUD!!! Exaggerated hand gestures may also help. So it is entirely appropriate that the Leica web sites for those "foreign types" are in English. Foreigners should read them s l o w l y with frequent references to an English phrasebook. The reason for the German web site being in the German language is that the German speaking "foreign types" usually don't understand English, no matter how s l o w l y or LOUD, so they need a site that is in their own language.
