Leica Service

Thought I'd post this since we've been taking lately about Leica

sevice.

This afternoon, I stopped by Eli Kurland in Manhattan

(Tamarkin's old location down the hall from the Leica Gallery),

since they were having a Leica Day and a free Clean and Check.

I wanted to check out a 24mm Elmarit-M I am considering. Also,

I brought my M3 and goggled 35 Summicron, because the

vertical RF alignment is out- only with this lens. When I got there,

I spent a few minutes talking with Brian Bell, Leica sales rep for

Northern NJ and NYC. He said that Brenda (the tech who had

been there for the Clean and Check) was gone, but that he'd be

happy to take the camera, have her look at it tomorrow, and get it

back to me. I thought he was kidding. I have met Brian a couple

of times before, and always enjoyed talking with him. He knows

my face from past meetings, and althought I have never

purchased any Leica item new, he was very happy to take care of

me and have my camera looked at free of charge. Talk about

service! (Only hope it comes back to me quickly..)

So I will let you know when I get the camera back and how it

performs. The proof will be in the pudding, but the fact that they-

well, Brian, really, is so willing to take such care of a Leica user

who's not even spending money with them right now impresses

me- and is certainly a different take than I was expressing about

Leica Service late last night.
