jonathon_schuster1
I'm at work at the moment and had a free moment to order myself a new battery for my m6 classic. Because I'm fairly new to this camera (which I love) I cannot recall which battery it takes. Can someone provide me with a link or a battery number so I can order a few for backup? Also, there any reccomended retailer for these? Thanks! Jonny

stephane camus
My mistake!!!! :( Depends which battery you take. The one I gave the reference, you need only one battery. Here is the info... Two (2) SR44(76S) 1.55v silver batteries or one (1) DL76 lithium Steph-
kipling
Jonathon, BTW, you can greatly prolong the life of your (new) batteries by keeping the shutter speed dial on B while it's in the bag. If the shutter is slightly depressed by something (happens easily while stored in a camera bag and took me about two sets of batteries to catch on) the batteries will drain in a matter of a day or two.
Kipling
SolaresLarrave
Buying two of the 2L76 (DL1/3n) 3v isn't too bad an idea. It's good to have them within reach when they run out. Leica bodies do not give any advance warning about battery status. Always get a spare, and carry it with you!
jorge
The main reason for the batteries of an M6/MP to go is inadvertedtly leaving the shutter cocked and the speed dial off B, then dropping the camera in the bag. In light of this, I have found that buying the more expensive N3 lithium 3V battery is overkill. I use a pair of commonly available LR44 or SR44 alkaline or silver batteries and always, read always, carry a spare couple in my camera bag. Every so often I goof and leave the cameras in "meter on" mode and the batts go off in a breeze. Having the spares usually beats sunny-16, specially in interiors. claude_batmanghelidj
Is there some way to make the battery hatch not unscrew by itself? I had two M6s before, and they both had the problem of the hatch coming loose on its own.
