msoskil
I'm headed to Olympic NP and am planning on dabbling with some B&W infrared in the rain forest. I have read up on using the HIE and have found that there is something about the N80 that fogs infrared film. Is there anything like that which I need to worry about with my 8008s? I'm also bringing my FG-20 as a back up, and since that was built in the manual ISO era I'm sure I can use that if I need to, but I was wondering if anyone knew a definative answer regarding the 8008s. Thanks!
rustys pics
I've shot many rolls of Kodak HIE infrared in my 8008s with no problems at all. The 8008s does not use an IR film counter like the new N80 & N75. Just make sure the foam around the little film window on back is in good shape. If it's deteriorated it may let light into the HIE. I usually rate HIE at ISO 400 with a #25 red filter. Works well with TTL metering.
joseph_wisniewski
8008 is great. If you're worried about a deteriorating film speed window, cover it with two layers of duct tape. I've done a lot of IR with an 8008 and a piece of Lee polyester 87 filter material taped between the film rails so I don't have to deal with taking an IR filter on and off...
