adrian_poon
Hi everyone,I'll be in Japan (Nagano-ken) for a little while and was wondering if anyone knows any good new or used camera stores. Obviously, there are the big ones like Yodobashi Cameras, Bic Cameras, etc. I'm interested in any smaller ones, perhaps with better prices and services. I'm also very interested in used camera equipment, Canon equipment to be more specific. If you know any, let me know the name of the store. Directions would be helpful too. Thanks.Adrian

kurt_easterwood2
Well, can't help you with Nagano, but if you make it down to Tokyo, there are a slew of shops. See the lists linked off of this page:http://photojpn.org/dir/listings.php?cmd=viewlistB&cid=36 If your time in Tokyo is limited, I'd go to Shinjuku, where there are at least 5 used stores, plus "superstores" for all the big retail outlets (Yodobashi, Bic Camera, Sakuraya, etc.). Plenty of Canon equipment to go around, that's for sure.
eduardo_galvani
For Tokyo, Shinjuku is the one with more choices, the small ones are on the East side of the Shinjuku sta., more little shops near Ginza crossing and Akasaka-mitsuke sta.. The new remodeled "camera-only" BicCamera on higashi Ikebukuro has a entire floor on used items. Usually the small shops are much more expensive than the larger ones. Cheers. kunihiko
I don't know Nagano. As Kurt mentioned, visiting Shinjuku will be fun if you had time.<BR> http://www.kiwi-us.com/~mizusawa//penguin/CAMERA/CAMEmap/juku/allmap.html<BR> Here's a map of used camera shops in Shinjuku. Yellow dots show the shops. I know and like most of them (I live in Tokyo).
andrew_funderburg
A lot of people have been asking me questions like this... So I made a web page all about it. Go to my homepage http://homepage.mac.com/fundy Follow the link for photography and then shopping in Japan. Andrew
adrian_poon
Man, those maps are awesome. I'll definitely take a look at these places next time I head to Tokyo. How does Maps Camera compare to Fujiya Camera? Fujiya sounds like the ultimate place to go for used Canon equipment. Would they be cheaper than Maps? I've seen a EF 24mm f2.8 (which is what I'm looking for) for 22800yen at Maps. Do you think Fujiya would be cheaper? Also, do these stores give any sort of discounts if I pay with cash? Thanks.
