bennybee
Hi, I bought a new Konica-Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV 35mm film scanner last saturday and have two questions re. a couple of problems I encountered. Sometimes the scanner freezes and displays the 'error=01 / Unknown Error' message after I choose 'Save as 3MB file' in the Easy Scan mode. All that's left is to end the non-responding application with Ctrl+Alt+Del and start all over again. I was only running the Minolta scanner software at that time and all other USB devices (HP printer f.ex.) were not powered up, except my Microsoft Trackbal mouse. This happened a couple of times, once with the scanner plugged in on a front-side USB port, and once or twice while it was connected to a free rear (direct) USB port. From earlier threads here I understand that I should try a different USB port on my (WinXP) computer or even disconnect all unused USB devices? Second problem : when I scan a B/W negative, save it and then open PS Elements 2.0 and retrieve that file, the displayed image is missing a substantial part on each side (+/- 10% L and R each). In other words, the scanner did not seem to have scanned the whole image, although the neg was properly positioned between the frame partitioners in the scanner's film holder! Any ideas and tips greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance!
francis_t
Can't help you with the freezes problem since I have not personally encountered this problem. As far as part of your image being cropped, while I have never used the Easy Scan Mode, according to the manual ES does using automatic cropping. So this may be why you are losing part of the image.
