k1ooD sensor was shot

I posted a question just a few days ago about the 28 pk 3.5 manual

not performing up to snuff.

I thought it was me or the lens. Wrong.

I returned the camera and asked one of the sales persons if

he had ever had any complaints about the k100D performance.

I mentioned that the images were not good at all

and i had to spend eons of time making adjustments.

It turns out, and here is the punchline, that some pentax k100d models had

sensors that were blown or whatever to begin with and that there was no remedy

short of a replacement of the whole camera.

I ended up being give a brand new K100D - SUPER to replace that lousy

discouraging 100D with the greenish sensor!

There are two issues known to k100 D cams, ( at least two, maybe more ).

They are the 1 degree shift phenomena and the faulty sensor resulting in washed

out looking dull and horribly out of hue pics fault.

Here l had thought it was my lens, a Tokina 80-200 f4.5 cheapo that DOES

give very good good results, despite being a dog better left at the Kennel,

(pawn shop) , where it was hastily purchased in a moment of mental

As soon as l popped that barker on the new k100d Super out popped the colors the

way they were supposed to have and the way l was led to assume they would, after

having read numerous good reports affirming same.

BTW, the pk 28 3.5 now performs up to snuff.

I never heard about it either, of course I never spent much attention on the K100 series.

I thought though it was weird you were getting what you termed awful results. Just sounded out of context with that sensor which has been a very good sensor, and definitely capable of quality results.

Sometimes it pays to follow your own hunches!!! Good luck.

Thanks for all of the earlier comments to the original question and for the congrats on this new posting.

I guess it was my pushiness that perhaps had something to do with

the sales guy replacing the shot K100D with a new K100D-Super.

I wasn't rude but when he started in with the old " ...we don't have another one on the shelf " routine, [ (K100D) which was true ], l pictured myself without a cam while waiting for a new body to be sent by snail mail , or waiting until the store truck made its weekly delivery from the docks, or waiting for the clerk to phone me in his or her good sweet time when a replacement DID arrive!

The blood began to thicken and become just slightly warmer at that thought!

(All of these complex and perplexing thoughts rushed through my minds eye in a flash - must have been the fight or flight response kicking in...or my vastly superior intelligence... ah hummm.)

Anyway ,this long winded sh*t can be summed up by an

observation of mine in dealing with CERTAIN situations in life :

Sometimes it pays to give a SUBTLE hint ( but don't go barking or shooting off with rude remarks ) to SOME sales clerks SOMETIMES that you are NOT going to go for mediocre half butt solutions as a consumer!

YOU GO GIRL! (But wait, i'm a guy, not a girl, oops!)

I am getting carried away here...must go for another coffee...

Is this a misaligned sensor? I'm curious because my horizon always seems to be slightly "shifted" from what I view. I thought it's my slight head tilt bias (yes, I do have a slight one I have to concentrate on not doing), but I think it might be the camera.

Let me know if that is what this is.
