btmuir
Hello fellows. I have a job comming up that requires true neutral color for some sterling silver type jewelry. The client specifies no velvia or saturated colors. I like provia for people as long as you're careful with the flah temp. I'll be shooting 35mm for juried show entry images. Any Recommendations??? I hear people rave about Astia in 35 but have no experience with it myself. Thanks everyone and I realize this is a skightly loaded question. duncan_trebilcock
Hi Bruce, I use Astia for jewellery, for two reasons. The restrained and quite neutral colour palette, and the low contrast compared to, say, Velvia. The relatively low contrast helps with reflective surfaces, and harsh specular reflections. The rendering of colour is also excellent, differentiating clearly between sterling silver and white gold for instance. You can see an example in my product folder Regards D.T. ellis_vener_photography
Try both Astia 100F (RAPIII) or Kodak Ektachrome EPN. Both are neutral --but slightly different flavors of neutral, (some of this will depend on who processes your film) --and have long tonal ranges (good for preserving highlights). Astia 100F has the tightest grain andhighest resolution of any color transparency film ever made.
