Is Minox making money?

I'm worried that "outlier" tastes will be the first to disappear

during the homogenization of this market, and I'm hoping that Minox

proves to be an enduring cash cow for Leica.

Would be nice to hear from "someone in the know".

In 1996 Lecia bought out the failed Minox GmbH. Since then the management have purchased back 51% of the company. It is now owned by Minox.

I have for 33 years questioned "what business is Minox in?" as they seemed relucant to sell cameras. If you read the dealler price list at <http://www.submin.com/8x11/manuals/minox> you can see the very high margins that Minox USA had and the equally high margins they suggested the dealers take. Although some edging against exchange rates and the cost of transportation to the USA is to be expected US prices where running at double German prices and in the UK it was often over three times as much. This differential still exists.

There have been many changes to the business practice since 1996 and we may expect more in the future.

The Minox brand recorded sales of � 7.2 million � an increase of 23.1% on the previous year. This success was primarily based on a continued expansion of the sales channels, e.g. in the market for advertising items, and in in-flight sales.

The black A is infact a fake. It has a B serial number and the red dot at 100 on the shutter speed scale.
