john schroeder
Magic Lantern guides are like owner's manuals on steroids. They are very usefull. I buy one for every camera I own. Go to your local camera store and ask if they have one open so you can look at it.
2yellowdogs
I've had good luck with Magic Lantern books, but am now a big fan of Thom Hogan's CD format guides. They're even more domprehensive than the ML books and really well done. http://bythom.com/d50guide.htm
bwcombs
I like the Magic Lantern Series because you can carry the book in your bag for reference any time. I also like what Thom Hogan has to offer from an instruction standpoint. I only wish Hogan would come out with a real book instead of his CD. dennismk
Have to speak in favor of the Thom Hogans CD's they are really good. I guess one could print out parts of it or all of it I you wish. Not as neat as a book ofcourse.
bourboncowboy
I agree with John's post above. I have one for every camera I own - and have sold several with cameras as well. They're very helpful.
jeffrey moore
I am not as big of a fan of the Magic Lantern guides as some are. I think Thom Hogan's guides are better, and by a fairly wide margin. The only advantage the Magic Lantern guides have over Hogan's is that they are in book form that you can carry with you. Of course that may be the deciding factor for some. But for learning how to get the most out of your camera, I'll take Hogan's guides every time. joe c.
I don't have any problems with Thom Hogan's e-books. Personally, I just print them out double-sided, 8-1/2x11 paper, three-hole punch them and put them in a binder. But, you can always reduce them and have your local copy shop bind them if you prefer. As for me, I want to be first in line for Thom's updated Nikon Flash Guide that will include the specifications for the SB-800!
