Is AF Nikkor 80-200 1:1.28ED UV coated?

Hmmm, I'm usually on a similar thought pattern as Hal so now I'm confused. But, my understanding was that all modern lenses use UV coated elements. That's one of the arguements oft made by the 'anti-protective filter folks'--that we don't need UV protection and that adding a filter just degrades the image further.

I think we'll need a better informed authority to specificaly answer this question as I certainly can't claim any first hand knowledge of what any lens is coated or not coated with.

I understand that most modern lenses have some UV filtering

due to the cement that binds elements into groups. Lenses

intended for UV photography are purpose designed to focus

correctly with UV and dont use a cement with this property.

Check with Bjørn

Rørslett (same site as Ilkka recommends).
One thing I can tell you first hand is that my UV coated glasses

absorb more UV than an Nikon L37c UV filter. Id like to try

an L39 or 2B but I dont own either.
Is UV coating prakticed in glass coatings (of lenses), and if yes, to what ammount?

Also I will hit google, but someone maight know; is there a way to find out what coating they use in glases (of Nikkor)and in which ellement, and also what suptances they mix into the glass.
