Is a Quantaray a good lens company

I found a lens for an AV-1 a Quantaray - 70-210mm f/4.0-5.6 Manual

Focus Zoom w/Macro for Canon FD for 100 bucks on cameraworld.com

whats your thoughts on the specs since im relatively new to lenses,

should 210 have good zoom

Quantaray is made by Sigma for Ritz Camera. I can't comment on the quality because I have never use Quantaray or Sigma. I hear they are good lenses but not in the same league as Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc. Maybe someone else will no more about the quality.

Way overpriced for it's quality!<p>I'd stick with Canon (go here for <a href="http://mywebpages.comcast.net/starka/CanonFD_ebay2.htm">FD prices</a>) if your unfamiliar with aftermarket products. Or go with a

<a href="http://www.robertstech.com/vivitar.htm">Vivitar Series 1</a>.

try a series 1 lens by vivitar. you'll find the 70-210mm f3.5 lens to be a gem of a lens, and it probably cost you much less. you would have to look on the used market though, in case you don't like to do that. i've had nothing but awesome experiences with the older original Vivitar Series 1 lenses. not to be confused with the mass market consumer versions that are released today.

You will be very disappointed in the quality of the Quantaray lens. I have onlu used a couple of them, they were junk. You would be much better off getting the Vivitar Series One 70-210. The first towo are a constant 3.5 aperture, and the third one is a 2.8-4 aperture. All three are very good. They will deliver very high quality images.
