ralph_jensen
B&H doesn't list it, nor does Adorama or Freestyle, though they all list 5-packs of 120 and 50-sheet boxes of 4x5. Should I be looking somewhere else? (Kodak.com, of course, just says "Check with your country's distributor.")

lex_jenkins
Check with the digitaltruth website. They do have the 20 roll value pack listed in 120: http://www.digitaltruth.com/store/cart/KODAK-Professional-TMax-400-Film-120-roll-20-Roll-Value-Multi-Pack-p-1115.html
rustys pics
Just call B&H or email them. No reason you can't buy a 20 roll brick as that's how 35mm is usually shipped. There is no special package like the 120 pro packs or the 4x5 sheet film. I think if you order 50 or 100 35mm rolls they come loose in a big box.
lex_jenkins
Found it on digitaltruth, TMY 20 roll packs in 35mm: http://www.digitaltruth.com/store/cart/Black-White-p-1-c-365.html
ralph_jensen
OK, thanks Lex! Not a huge savings over buying individual rolls, I must say... I guess it'll come down to who charges least for shipping.
lex_jenkins
Yeh, I'm surprised there's such a price difference between TMY and Tri-X. Schools use a lot of T-Max 400, seems to be recommended by the instructors more often now and bundled by local shops.
john_shriver
I'm not surprised TMY-2 is more expensive than Tri-X, it's much harder to make the 2-electron sensitization emulsion, uses exotic chemicals, etc.
It certainly is in bricks on the shelf at the local Calumet store.
larrydressler
A bulk loader and a 100 foot roll would save you mre in the long run. I bulk load all my 35mm and if I could find wide stuff I would bulk load my 120 and 220 lord knows I saved all the backing paper for some stupid reason.
pc_b
I get Tri-X at one of the majors for (100' bulk / single roll) USD46.95 / 3.50 and TMY is 49.95 / 3.90. Nowhere near the +50% charged by digitaltruth.
I'm pretty positive that Kodak have been using a lot of extra chemistry in their Tri-X production line too since the latest taming of The Oldie (2003?).

photojim
I find that when you buy brick quantities of film from Adorama or B&H (and presumably Freestyle but I've not tried it), you get a brick or box. I often get large quantities of 135-36 Fuji Superia in various sizes, and I get it in bricks anytime I order enough. It's easier for them to fill the order that way.
larrydressler
I still love loading my own with Bulk film I wonder why the Bulk loaders were sat 100 feet and not more? I know there were larger ones made but that was uncommon.
If I like a film I shoot a bunch of it and boxes just make it ECO unfriendly.
pc_b
My lines were mainly in reply to John's remark about the sensitization processes and those chemicals...
To SMC, Larry, and whoever else got puzzled, please read:
I believe that for getting the grain size of Tri-X even smaller when they did the last update on it (and leaving every other parameter/attribute unchanged!), they probably had to change just as much in the production process of the emulsion as they had to for TMY-2.
(Now, if that was clearer...)
