john_mathew2
I have a D80 and a D100 - apart from the Mumford Light machine <http://www.bmumford.com/photo/camctlr.html> (which I have yet to investigate properly) - are there any other Beam trigger devices for these cameras? I am trying to photograph birds flying through and breaking a beam to setup of the camera.
frank_skomial
You would need a Nikon camera with the 10 pin control socket, like D200, D300, D3. I am not sure if D80 or D100 has that ? With use of 2 pocket Wizards, and the cable to pre-focus and trigger the D200 camera (D300 etc), you would be "half-equiped" to trigger taking picture remotely. The second half would be to find an infrared ("Beam" you call it) device that would cause a trigger signal, or a radar scanner device. Something similar to how this works when infrared triggers are installed in the doorway of a store, and triggers Bell or Gong sound announcing customer entry. I see no practical way to cover wider area birds flying area with IR Beams, but possible a radar scan would work ? I suggest do find a triggerring device, and do the setup in a doorway, and test if e.g. your dog will trigger the picture taking sequence. This would be a starting point. Who knows, may be you will find a way to do what you want ?
